The CVRD has paused work on the draft Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw (CZB), Modernized Official Community Plan (MOCP), Local Area Plans, and related planning initiatives until after the October 2026 local government elections. In the meantime, the CVRD is exploring interim solutions to address currently non-compliant uses, including short-term rental accommodations, agritourism accommodations, temporary worker housing, food trucks, markets, festivals, and other small business activities.

The Cowichan Agricultural Society will provide an update on the CVRD planning and zoning process after its General Meeting on June 18, 2026. Farmers and rural landowners are encouraged to attend, stay informed, and participate in the discussion.
